Best toy ever! Written by Hilary P from Scarsdale, NY United States Dec 15, 2008
I don't often come here to write a review, but my Dad recently bought this toy for my three kids (ages 3, 3, and 5). We got the monkey, which comes with a wand, as well as two extra wands so the kids wouldn't fight for the wands. My kids LOVE playing hide and seek, but it's annoying for me to constantly hide somewhere in the house, which usually means me crouching under a train table with numb legs waiting for someone to find me. This toy has saved me!
You (or the kids) hide the monkey ANYWHERE in the house. You can put it inside containers or under blankets, or in closets. Then the kids run around the house with the wands. When they get closer to the hidden monkey, the wand starts lighting up with red dots. When they are really close, the wand starts beeping (almost like a metal detector). My kids play it for about 45 minutes to an hour at a time! It's great!
I highly recommend getting multiple wands if you have more than one child (or for playdates). I really can't say enough good things about this product. I wish I had found it sooner!
Oh, and another plus.... it actually COMES WITH BATTERIES!!! Phew... because the monkey takes a 9-volt and I didn't have one of those in the house and I was thinking "oh, no, do I have to run out now and get a battery." I was so surprised that the battery was included. Doesn't happen often!!!

Lots of fun Written by CBuck from New Jersey Dec 29, 2008
this is definitely a great toy.... it keeps little ones occupied and all you have to do is hide the monkey every few minutes. They get so excited when they find it! The only negative I have to say, is that you cannot hide it behind cushions or anywhere too "deep" as it will not pick up the signal. Keep the hiding spots simple and you will never be disappointed.

Bad Engineering Written by E. Laspe from Jan 13, 2009
The Safari Monkey was simply engineered poorly. Instead of using an RF transmitter and receiver, this piece of junk just emits a high-pitched squeal (beyond human hearing) whose intensity is picked up and displayed using 4 LEDs on the locator wand. If the monkey is hidden behind or under anything that might block the sound, it will be almost impossible for a young child to find without assistance.

Great toy for young children Written by K. Pelosky from Baltimore, MD Apr 03, 2009
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 3 yr old cousin. She LOVES to hide things and find them, so I thought this was perfect. Out of everything she got, she played with this the entire day. I recommend this toy for any child who likes to play hide and seek. Hours of fun!

Great Hide and Seek Game for the Whole Family Written by Marcia Silverberg from Alpharetta, GA Jan 11, 2009
We bought this game for our 2 1/2 year old daugther this past Christmas and she absolutely loves it! It is a fun and interactive game that she can play with us or her friends. Like the typical game of hide and seek, it is teaching her how to count, be patient, and follow simple rules. She loves to look for the monkey! I would highly recommend this game to anyone with young children. I think that this game would be a fun game to be played among a wide range of ages.
