not the newest model Written by Joseph Polino from florida Sep 06, 2010
If I new a newer model was due out this week, I would not have bought this one. The new model is smaller and they have done away with the click wheel, I hate the click wheel! There is nothing wrong or bad about this model other than its not the newest model out there. Its my own fault for not researching better befor my purchase. For the same price you can buy the new nano model which has all the same features, is smaller, and with a touch screen (no more click wheel). No reason to buy this OLDER model unless they drop the price on it significantly.
the little ipod that could Written by David H. Staples from Sep 06, 2010
This 5th gen is the best nano yet! I love the video camera and microphone, comes in handy for unexpected need for video or voice files. This ipod nano holds all my music in such a slim design.I have nothing but praise for this ipod, I use it at the gym or when power walking. Radio also comes in handy!
Great Product, but with the potential for a serious bug... Written by C. Krubeck from Sep 06, 2010
First of all, let me say that this isn't my first ipod. I've updated this from an old video ipod that unfortunately took a nasty fall and broke.
The ipod itself is great, it's got a lot of nice user interface features. It's easy to browse music, find artists, etc. Audio quality and quality of construction are all great. The old annoyance of the headphone jack being next to the usb still means you can't charge the ipod and listen to it with certain headphones but these are all fairly minor issues.
The video functionality is pretty much useless, but may be good for dumb laughs. I personally only use my ipod for music so I couldn't care less. However, since the 4g nanos now cost more than the new generation you might as well get this one.
NOW THE BAD STUFF:
The main issue with this ipod that you may or may not care about is there's a well known bug regarding syncing from the ipod -> itunes. For those of us who organize our playlists and music by playcount or rating, there is a possibility that when you've spent all day listening to your music NONE of the information will transfer back to itunes. Again, if you're someone who organizes music this way, it is infuriating. Apple has taken an official stance of denying a problem exists as well so don't expect a bug fix anytime soon or if they do they probably wont tell anyone.
I've just replaced one ipod that had this issue and I'm currently experiencing no problems with the new one, but it is a common problem so buyer beware. If this problem does not persist, I will update this review in 2 weeks (that's when apple's return policy runs out) and say that everything is great and change this to a four star review. Until then, Apple has crippled a piece of functionality between this generation and the one before it and have done nothing to fix it.

Great Ipod with so many new features! Written by Noreen A. Morris from ny Sep 05, 2010
This is a keeper and for the price--you get so much. Love how simple taking great shots or videos is with this. The external speakers and cover flow makes sharing and watching a breeze. The FM radio gets tons of stations and the little extras are so easy to locate and actually use. Calandar, contacts, alarm, stop watch and even a pedometer!
You may even catch me playing a game on this every now and then. My main use was for cardio and audio books--but I find I am taking more videos with this than my JVC Everio HD camcorder.
Quite a bit of fun for the money!!
